Welcome to the Blue River Travelers home page! We are a Classic
Country and Bluegrass
Gospel band from Clay County located a few miles South of Jacksonville, Florida. Currently
we are a group of four members. We formed as a group way back in the early spring of 2000.
We are currently playing locally in Middleburg, Florida.
We also travel through Florida and south Georgia to towns such as Green Cove Springs, Keystone Heights, Melrose,
Lake Butler, St. Augustine, Orange Park, Leesburg and Woodbine, Georgia.
Bluegrass music as a style developed sometime during the late mid 1940s. Because of war rationing, recording was limited during this time, and the best we can say is that bluegrass was not played before World War II, and it was being played after. As with any musical genre, no one person can claim to have "invented" it. Rather, bluegrass is an amalgam of old-time music, blues, ragtime and jazz.
